Rothbury Family Butchers of Northumberland have achieved nationwide recognition by winning a number of top awards in the Guild of Q Butchers 2007 “Smithfield Awards” Product Evaluation.
The Smithfield Awards are among the most prestigious in the meat industry with products subjected to detailed assessment and sampling by a panel of independent judges.
Rothbury Family Butchers won three Gold’s, four silvers and one Bronze. Award winning products included their Cragside Cracker Sausage, Red Onion Steak Burger, Ginger & Spring onion sausage and Cragside turkey roast..
The awards were presented to Morris Adamson at a special lunch in Butchers Hall, London, by TV celebrity chef and restaurateur Paul Rankin.
Morris said: “As a member of the Guild of Q Butchers we aspire to the highest standards in the trade and to win another eight Smithfield Awards is a tremendous honour ( Gold's are only awarded to products achieving 95% or more ). We were thrilled to do so well in the 2007 product evaluation and our customers can look forward in 2008 to enjoying some award-winning products!”
Almost 400 entries from Q butchers all over Britain were judged for the Smithfield Awards which were sponsored by EBLEX, the English Beef and Lamb Executive, and food chain suppliers Dalziel. The products were assessed at the MLC Headquarters in Milton Keynes.
